Swim With Dolphins In Cozumel At Dolphin Discovery

Is swimming with dolphins at Dolphin Discovery Cozumel on your bucket list? If so, you’ll want to check out Dolphin Discovery Cozumel. Find answers to common questions and help plan your visit.

My husband and I just returned from a cruise. We visited two ports: Cozumel and Puerto Costa Maya (both in Mexico). While in Cozumel, we had an amazing swimming experience with dolphins. And not just being in the water with them but actually interacting with them, touching them, and doing some tricks too. So excited to check this item off our bucket list.

If you are interested in swimming with dolphins at Dolphin Discovery Cozumel, I highly recommend Dolphin Discovery Cozumel. They are located inside Chankanaab Park, which is a large seaside park. When you buy tickets for your dolphin experience, you also get entrance to the park. This is great because if you are like us and visit Cozumel Cruise Excursions, you can spend all day enjoying the parks and Cozumel Shore Excursions.

Things to Do in Chankanaab Park

The word Chankanaab Park comes from the Mayan language: Chan, which is small and Kanaab means sea. The small sea refers to a natural lagoon within the park. But, there is nothing small about Chankanaab Park. This park has a lot to offer, these are just a few of the activities that you can enjoy at Chankanaab Park.

Snorkeling

Snorkeling at Chankanaab Park is allowed at the snorkeling area on the main beach. If you plan to snorkel you will need to be a good swimmer as the entry point to the snorkel area is by large concert steps which put you into deeper water. Swimming slightly away from the shoreline/rocks will provide a slightly calmer experience. This isn’t something you want to do with young children unless they are good swimmers (and wearing life jackets) because the water is deep and a bit rougher. Kids can try snorkeling in the children’s lagoon, although they are likely to see more swimmers than fish.

Tequila Tasting and Tour

Inside Chankanaab Park Hacienda Antique offers tequila tastings and tours for people to learn about how tequila is made and the origins of this famous Mexican drink. Prices vary depending on whether you want to do a simple tasting or go on a full tour.

Sea Lion and Manatee Discovery Programs

Sea Lion and Manatee discoveries are also offered by Dolphin Discovery Cozumel at Chankanaab Park. Both are $50 for children and $60 for adults. The Sea Lion program includes activities such as learning about the diet of sea lions, feeding them, petting them, and getting kisses from them. The Manatee Encounter is the only program to swim with manatees in the Caribbean. This program allows participants to learn about manatees and share the kisses, hugs, and feedings of these large marine animals.

Free Sea Lion show

Throughout the day at Chankanaab Park, there are free discovery sessions that take place in the Sea Lion and Manatee areas. This session is a public show for visitors to come and watch marine animals perform with their trainers. They make a nice break from the beach or after a lunchtime show.

Children’s Beach

a small children’s beach area with a shallow lagoon for children to splash around safely and build sandcastles. This area also has several shaded areas for families to sit and relax while the kids play. A small shop is located near the beach so you can buy sand toys if you don’t have one with you. There is a lifeguard on duty but as always you have to be in charge of your kids.
